ROLE DESCRIPTION | |
The Equities Research Officer is responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis of equities listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) to support trading, investment decision-making, and client advisory services. This role involves evaluating market trends, financial statements, and economic indicators to generate insightful reports and recommendations for institutional and retail clients. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of the Nigerian capital market, and the ability to provide data-driven investment strategies. | |
JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES | |
Conduct fundamental and technical analysis of equities for necessary stock recommendations. Monitor and analyze macroeconomic trends, industry developments, and corporate actions affecting listed companies. Prepare detailed research reports, market outlooks, and investment recommendations for internal and external stakeholders. Track and assess financial performance, valuation metrics, and risk factors of publicly traded companies. Support the trading and sales teams with timely market insights and trade ideas. Assist in portfolio construction by providing stock selection strategies based on risk-reward assessments. Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, NGX guidelines, and other relevant capital market rules. Engage with company management, attend earnings calls, and review financial statements to enhance research accuracy. Utilize research tools, databases, and financial modelling techniques to enhance the quality of analysis. Present research findings to clients, traders, and senior management in a clear and concise manner. | |
CAPABILITIES | |
Strong knowledge of the Nigerian Capital Market, NGX trading dynamics, and SEC regulations. Proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and portfolio management tools. Proficiency in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and Bloomberg or similar market data platforms. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills for research report writing and client presentations. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic market environment. QUALIFICATION Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in equities research, investment analysis, or financial modelling. Professional certifications such as CFA, CIS (Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers), or ACCA are highly desirable. |
