ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a Fixed Income Trader, will specialize in buying and selling fixed income securities to improve trade turnover, market visibility and optimize returns by ensuring competitive bid and offer spread on instruments traded. You will also be responsible for managing the overall fixed income portfolio of the Company. This role involves executing trades based on market analysis, economic trends, and forecasted interest rate movements.
JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct thorough analysis of Fixed Income and Equities Markets to identify investment opportunities. Stay informed about economic indicators, interest rate trends, and geopolitical events that may impact fixed income securities. 
• Manage and optimize the fixed income portfolio to achieve targeted risk-adjusted returns. Balance the portfolio in terms of duration, credit quality, and yield. Assess and manage risks associated with fixed income investments. Implement risk mitigation strategies and adhere to risk limits.• Build and maintain relationships with Brokers, Banks, Dealers, and other market Participants. Negotiate trade terms and pricing, execute buy and sell orders to maximize spread.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Stay updated on changes in regulations that may impact fixed income trading. 
• Communicate effectively with Operation & Finance Team, Portfolio Managers, Investment Management Team, Management and other internal Stakeholders to ensure seamless end to end transaction processing. 
• Utilize trading platforms, analytics tools, and other technology to enhance trading efficiency. Stay abreast of advancements in trading technology and advise management accordingly.
• Maintain and update the trade book, carry out reconciliations, carry out mark-to-market on all existing securities and adhere to trade policies in execution.
• Send to internal and external Stakeholders information on fixed income securities including new offers, upcoming offers, auction announcement, market expectations, auction results amongst others.
• Any other responsibilities as may be assigned to ensure business growth and development.
CAPABILITIES
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis and financial modeling.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional Teams.
• Ability to interpret market data and make informed trading decisions.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• In-depth understanding of Fixed Income and Equities Markets and securities.
• Thorough attention to detail to ensure accurate execution of trades and compliance with regulations.
• Integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust trading strategies accordingly.
• Behavioral capabilities in line with the Company’s values 

Qualification
• B. Sc in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or other related courses.
• FMVA certification will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years industry experience in Fixed Income Dealing.
