ROLE DESCRIPTION | |
The Islamic Finance Officer will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring Shariah-compliant investment products and services within the Organization. The role ensures that all Islamic finance offerings comply with Shariah principles, regulatory requirements, and market best practices, while supporting business growth and client engagement. | |
JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES | |
Design and structure Shariah-compliant investment products (e.g., Sukuk, Islamic funds, Halal equity portfolios, Murabaha, Ijara). Conduct periodic reviews of existing Islamic finance products to ensure Shariah compliance and competitiveness. Liaise with Shariah Advisory Board/Scholars for product approvals and guidance. Ensure all transactions and investment activities comply with Shariah principles and SEC/CBN regulations as applicable. Prepare compliance reports for internal management, regulators, and the Shariah Advisory Board. Monitor and document fatwas, guidelines, and rulings affecting Islamic finance products. Identify and engage potential clients (institutions, corporates, HNIs, retail) interested in Shariah-compliant investments. Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and reports to promote Islamic finance offerings. Build and maintain strong client relationships to increase assets under management. Stay updated on global and local trends in Islamic finance and capital markets. Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities in Shariah-compliant investments. Provide training and sensitization sessions to internal teams and clients on Islamic finance concepts. Support investment managers in executing trades and transactions in compliance with Shariah principles. Collaborate with finance, legal, compliance, and operations teams to ensure smooth product implementation. Maintain accurate records of all Islamic finance transactions and contracts. | |
CAPABILITIES | |
Strong ethical and professional values. Deep understanding of Shariah compliance. Relationship management and client advisory skills. Attention to detail and documentation. Research and problem-solving ability. QUALIFICATION Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional qualifications in Islamic Finance (e.g., CIMA Islamic Finance, AAOIFI certification, CISI Islamic Finance qualification, or similar) will be an added advantage. Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in Islamic banking, finance, or asset management. Strong understanding of capital markets, mutual funds, and portfolio management. Ability to engage with Shariah scholars, regulators, and high-level stakeholders. * This role attracts competitive remuneration. |
