Mohammed Umar
Mohammed has vast experience in the public sector in accounting, risk management, governance, policy formulation, market surveillance, inspection and supervision. He is currently an Executive Partner at Green Mount Consulting Limited. Prior to this, he was Director, Insurance and Surveillance at Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) where he grew through the ranks. Prior to joining NDIC, he worked as a Senior Accountant with the Bauchi State Government and as an Accountant with Babarinde Printing Press Limited.
He has attended 42 local and 14 international trainings in Bank Supervision & Examination, Foreign Exchange Examination, Leadership, Risk Management & Risk based Supervision, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Program (ICAAP), Bank Examination Management School, FDIC – USA; Bank Supervision, FSA – UK; Leadership for Extraordinary Performance, Darden School of Business – USA; Mobilising People Program, IMD – Switzerland; Islamic Finance & Banking Euromoney – UK; IADA 4th Research Conference, Basel – Switzerland; IADI International Conference, Seoul – South Korea and Quebec, Canada and Islamic Finance, Products & Insurance, Euromoney – Dubai.
Mohammed holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Masters in Banking & Finance from Bayero University, Kano. He is a member Institute of Directors of Nigeria, Fellow of Chartered Risk Management Institute (CRMI) of Nigeria, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ICPAN) and Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN). He is currently the 2nd Vice President of the CRMI.
He has previously served on the Boards of Bauchi State Television Limited and Bauchi Fertilizer Company Limited. He is currently an Independent Non – Executive Director with United Bank of Africa Pension Custodian Limited.
